June 28th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former army chief of general staffs Gen. Paul Malong Awan Anei stands for the federal system of government in the Republic of South Sudan, official allied to him told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity from the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

“Gen. Malong favors and stand for federal system of governance in South Sudan. As you have seen the effect of centralizing powers in Juba, you can see how President Salva Kiir took takes advantage of the current system of government,” a official told the Nyamilepedia on the cover of anonymity.

The official pointed out that they are monitoring the results of the face-to-face meeting which they said is not inclusive because because they are not included in the process they are pessimistic of.

“We are monitoring the meeting between him (Kiir) and Machar. We first want to know the results of this noninclusive meeting which will not bring peace to the country because even if they agreed they will disagree in days from the time they inked the agreement,” the official added.

Malong, who is on a United Nations sanction list, defected from the South Sudan government in March and announced the formation of an armed opposition group, the South Sudan United Front (SSUF/Army) accusing Kiir of looting the resources of the young African country.

He was dismissed as the SPLA top General in May 2017 and tried to flee the capital Juba and went to Yirol heading to his hometown Aweil before he was forcefully returned to the capital Juba by government troops stationed on the way. He was then put to house arrest for almost six month and was released in November 2017 on medical and health ground and went to Nairobi where he started his process of rebellion until he declared his rebellion.
