December 27th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s information minister Michael Makuei Lueth warned on Tuesday citizens of his home town of Bor against negative and hostile language against peace agreement.
Makuei uttered the remarks while in Bor town during the Christmas celebration.
“This hostile language must stop, this hate speech must stop, because if you continue to use this hatespeech and hostile language, definitely that is not for the benefit of peace,” the UN Radio Miraya quoted Makuei as saying.
The Minister of information who is also government spokesperson, Michael Makuei Lueth, has appealed to the citizens to safeguard the revitalized Peace agreement from the spoilers.
Minister Makuei was one of the high level government officials that attended the Christmas day church service in Bor town in Jonglei.
Under regional and international pressure, South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny signed a peace deal in September in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to end the war.
The agreement in Addis Ababa followed months of intense negotiations among delegates of the government and opposition who must, by the time, sign a pact or face international or further regional isolation.
The government in late October conducted a peace celebration ceremony in the capital Juba and was attended by regional leaders as well as the SPLM-IO leader Dr. Machar.
