April 6th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s Minister of Information Michael Makuei Lueth has ordered the suspension of elections of Bor Community Youth Association (BCYA) in Juba, a copy of the letter obtained by the Nyamilepedia said.
The letter, signed by the country’s Information Minister, Michael Makuei and is directed to the Chairman of the election committee Dr. Gabriel Piok Garang said the government is concerned by the many “conflicting” accounts provided by many factions of the youth.
“I have observed with a lot of concerns that the upcoming elections of the Bor Community Youth Association (BCYA)in Juba will likely not be peaceful. I have received conflicting reports from various factions of youths on the status of the elections and it is appearing that there is confusion on the process on how the elections should be conducted and that will likely cause chaos,” part read the letter.
Makuei, who is also the Chairman of the Bor Community Association in Juba, said he decided to suspend the elections because of the above concern.
“For the above [reason], you are hereby advised to call off the elections until further notice in order to enable us create a peaceful environment for those elections to be conducted”, the order further said.
