July 17th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s information minister and government spokesman Michael Makuei Lueth said on Monday that the new peace proposal was written by the negotiators as if there is no government in South Sudan.
The comments by the government mouthpiece, followed a presentation of a new power sharing proposal by the mediators in Khartoum to the parties currently there negotiating an agreement in order to end the ongoing bloodshed in the country.
Makuei however said despite the way the document [the peace proposal] is written, the government has received it and is deliberating on it doubting speculations that the parties might sign a peace agreement Today.
“The document the way it is written, it appears as if there is no government in South Sudan. Anyway, we have received it. But I really doubt if it will be signed tomorrow (Tuesday),” the outspoken minister said on Monday.
Makuei said the document can not be unveiled and signed in 24 hours saying his government need much time to study and and have its say on the document.
“It has to be thoroughly studied because it cannot just be given and then in less than 24 hours, it is signed,” Mr. Makuei further said.
On Tuesday, a SPLM-IO official told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity that the rebel group has accepted the power sharing proposal urging others, in the other parts of the opposition and then government to follow suit to end the suffering of the people.
