Aug 15, 2021 — South Sudan’s main armed opposition, which is struggling to sustain itself, is calling on CTSAMVM to investigate the recently defected military generals for violating the Revitalized Agreement of the Resolution of the Conflict on South Sudan(R-ARCISS).
According to a statement by Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, the military spokesman of Machar’s SPLA-IO, the ceasefire monitoring and evaluation mechanism must investigate the recent defection of Maj. Gen. Khor Chuol Giet and other officers, and hold such generals accountable for violation of the security arrangement and implementation of the peace agreement.
“The SPLA-IO leadership learned of the defection of Maj. Gen. Khor Chuol with three other officers to the SSPDF on 09/08/2021 in Malual Gahoth.” Col. Lam Paul Gabriel stated.

Despite, the SPLA-IO under Machar farewell the defecting officers but urges them to evacuate their forces from Maluak Gahoth and other contested regions as Lam accuses the disgruntled soldiers of aiming to attack their position.Â
“Th SPLA-IO wishes Maj. Gen..khor Chuol well where he is going and urged him to move his supporters out of Malual Gahoth being an area under the control of the SPLA-IO as these sponsored defections always end in attacks against the SPLA-IO forces.” Lam Paul Gabriel said.

According to the new military spokesman, Lam Paul Gabriel, the SPLA-IO remains committed to the Implementation of the Transitional Security Arrangement and reserves the right to self-defense.
