October 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The SPLM-IO Representative to the Arab Republic of Egypt has welcomed Machar’s decision to reject unity government formation in November.

Machar, a powerful figure in the revitalized peace agreement signed in September last year said on Sunday he would not be a party to the government President Kiir said he will form in November.

Machar said his decision to reject unity government formation is because important provisions of the revitalized agreement necessary for government formation are not in place.

The agreement provided for a unity government but after a unified army, police and national security service are ready in place.

The agreement also provided for the settlement of the number and boundaries of states before the government formation.

In a statement issued on Friday, the SPLM-IO country representative to Egypt Gatkuoth Biel Nyang congratulated Machar saying it is the right decision to take at the moment.

“The SPLM – IO Mission office in the Arab Republic of Egypt would like to congratulate Chairman and Commander in Chief H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon for his bold stance on extension for the formation of R-TGoNU,” Nyang said in the statement extended to Nyamilepedia.

“The SPLM-IO supporters in the Arab Republic of Egypt express their deep appreciation and full support to Cde Chairman on his strong stance that, we will never be part of R -TGoNU until the outstanding issues specially Security arrangement, number and boundaries of states are resolved,” the statement added.

It further reiterated the group’s commitment to the revitalized peace agreement they signed with the government of President Salva Kiir in September last year but said they want a a sustainable peace.

“We need peace that will be in the interest of our people,” the statement said.
