August 10, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – The deputy chairperson of South Sudan’s main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO, Hendry Odwar has rejected calls by President Salva Kiir Mayardit to replace the SPLM-IO nominee for the governorship of Upper Nile state.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has been urging Machar and his group to replace General Olony saying he would cause further destruction to the state because he would return the country to war.

“The violator should comprehend what the peace agreement says. He [Olony] is our nominee and he will remain our nominee,” Odwar said in an interview quoted by Radio Tamazuj.

“The constitutional committee has ongoing work. As far as parliament is concerned, I think they finished their work,” he added.
