Machar, wife and opposition figures returns to Khartoum

November 1st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s First Vice President designate and leader of the SPLM-IO Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, have returned to the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Wednesday evening after attending a peace celebration organized by the South Sudan government in the capital Juba.

Machar was accompanied by his wife who is the SPLM-IO Chairperson of National Committee for Security and Defense Angelina Jany Teny as well as senior SPLM-IO officials.

Other opposition leaders such as the leader of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance  (SSOA) Gabriel Changson Lew Chang and Dr.  Lam Akol Ajawin have also returned to the Sudanese capital.

South Sudan government on Wednesday hosted the long awaited celebration aimed at welcoming the peace deal signed in September by President Kiir and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

Kiir during his speech apologized to the people of South Sudan saying the blamest for the ongoing carnage is on his shoulderror asking other opposition figures to end the blame game and accept blames.

As a good gesture for peace, Kiir also ordered the release of ex-spokesman of the rebel leader Dr. Riek Machar, James Gatdet Dak who had been sentenced to death in February this year.
