February 17th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny has this afternoon left the Sudanese capital Khartoum heading to Juba for talks with President Salva Kiir Mayardit, an opposition official said Monday.
Kiir and Machar are under international pressure to form the long-awaited unity government this month to end the country’s civil war.
“The Chairman and Commander in Chief H.E Dr. Riek Machar has left Khartoum for Juba to conduct a very important meeting with President Salva Kiir on the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement,” the opposition official said from Khartoum.
The opposition official who refused to be named said talks will focus on the administrative areas created by President Salva after ordering that the country returned to 10 states.
