December 14th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny will stay in Juba until Monday after a meeting set for today with President Salva Kiir was postponed, an opposition spokesman for Machar said.
Puok Both Baluang, the SPLM-IO director of information and public relations told the Nyamilepedia this morning that a meeting set yesterday for today has been postponed to Monday and that Machar would stay until then.
“The today face to face meeting between the two principals (President Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar) has officially been postponed until Monday,” Baluang told the Nyamilepedia from Juba this morning.
He said the number and boundaries of states were not discussed during Tuesday and Friday’s meetings by the two men without giving a reason for that.
“The issue of the states was not discussed by the two principals,” he said.
Machar who arrived in Juba on Tuesday met with Kiir on Friday night and discussed the implementation of the security arrangements which has been one of the issues preventing the formation of a unity government.
