July 8th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon will be appointed the country’s First Vice-President, the Sudanese Foreign Minister Al-Dierdiry Ahmed told reporters on Saturday evening in the Ugandan capital Kampala following talks between Kiir and Machar under the auspices of the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in presence of his Sudanese counterpart President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir.
Machar has held the First Vice-President position prior to July 2016 in which guards loyal to him and President Kiir clashed at the state house in Juba resulting to death of number of several government troops and few SPLA-IO soldier stationed outside the palace.
“It has been agreed that there will be four vice presidents: the current two vice presidents, plus Riek Machar who will assume the position of first vice president, and then the fourth position will be allocated to a woman from the opposition,” the Sudanese foreign minister Al-Dierdiry Ahmed told reporters yesterday in Kampala.
