August 6th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon said on Sunday that there is no any option available for the people of South Sudan other than opting for peace rather than the ongoing civil war.

Machar was speaking during the signing ceremony of the final South Sudan peace deal in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

On Sunday, South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and the former First Vice President, now once again the First Vice-President designate signed the long-awaited South Sudan final peace agreement in the Sudanese capital Khartoum

Other South Sudan armed and non-armed opposition groups including the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) and the SPLM Former Detainees who initially declined the agreement also signed the deal.

Machar said the only one option available is peace rather than the destructive civil war urging rival leaders including President Salva Kiir to focus on the implementation of the agreement signed in Khartoum yesterday saying should they don’t implement that, they will all be failures.

“There is no option but peace. We have to focus after this stage on implementing the agreement that if we don’t implement, we will all be failures,” Machar said.

Machar further said the signing of the agreement is a good news for the people of South Sudan and those of the world.

“Today we celebrate, not just in South Sudan, but throughout the world,” he further said adding that “I missed this moment and waited a lot. We want to give meaning to this day, a great day for the people of the South and the region.”
