November 1st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former First Vice-President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon who is also the leader of the main armed opposition group, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) has suspended the group’s governor of Yei River State Maj. Gen. Matata Frank Alikana according to a documenthe obtained by the Nyamilepedia.
The document dated October 21st signed by the SPLM-IO Chairman and Commander in Chief Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon cited a report by a Kenyan investigative journalist accusing the governor of corruption and accumulating money illegally
“Following the programm entitled ‘Part III : The Axe forgets: The Tree Remernbers’ produced by a Kerryan investigative journalist, I Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, Chairman and Cornrnander – in Chief, SPLM/SPLA (IO ) hereby suspend you from your duties as Governor of Ye River State and constitute an investigation Committee to investigate your involvement in the foresaid program,” Machar wrote in the letter to Gen. Matata.
Machar said the immunity of the governor has been lifted lifted to enable the investigative committee investigate him and therefore his deputy takes responsibility until the completion of the investigation.
“Based on this order your immunity is hereby lifted so that you can appear before this Investigation Committee. Your deputy shall immediately act till the final report of the committee is presented to me,” the letter further read.
