June 9, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – SPLM-IO leader and South Sudan First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar has sent a team of close aides to Juba PoC where fighting left more than 170 people wounded over the week, according to a senior opposition official.
Last Friday, youth inside the UN protection of civilians fought after a lady was found standing with a man triggering anger leading to the fighting wounding at least 175 people.
Following the fighting – on senior SPLM-IO official said – Machar send a number of senior officials led by Manawa peter Gatkuoth, the SPLM-IO deputy spokesman and the minister of water and irrigation.
According to the official, Manawa was accompanied by senior members of the SPLM-IO including former governor of the group’s Liech state, Tor Tungwar Kueiguong.
The official said the dispute has been resolved and life has returned to normalcy.
“The First Vice President, the Chairman and Commander in Chief of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) yesterday dispatched a team of senior government and SPLM-IO officials to the site of the IDP protection to calm down the unfortunate situation which has caused regrets over the weekend,” the senior government official said.
“The team is led by the minister of water and irrigation, Cde Manawa Peter Gatkuoth Gual and former governor of Liech state Hon. Tor Tungwar Kueiguong. The situation and been deescalated and the people there have returned to their normal brotherly life,” the official said.
