October 20th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny said on Sunday that the parties “may need to extend,” the formation of unity government set for November 12th.
Machar made the comment while speaking during a meeting with a high-level delegation of the UN Security Council which arrived in Juba this morning.
Machar who early reiterated his commitment to peace implementation said they will try in their (himself and Kiir) next meeting to make sure that all the pending issues are resolved to avoid delayment of the government formation.
President Kiir and Machar early convened a join meeting of heads of security organs of the pre-transitional committee and directed them to expedite the process so that the government can be formed on time.
A source in Juba told the Nyamilepedia this afternoon that Kiir had told the UN delegation in a meeting this afternoon at J1 that he may consider returning the country to ten states.
