August 27th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition leader and First Vice-President designate Dr. Riek Machar Teny has returned to Sudanese capital Khartoum after one week in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.
Last week, the main armed opposition leader and his main rival turned peace partner, President Salva Kiir, were invited to Addis Ababa by the region which warned that the agreement is not being implemented on time as agreed.
In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, the SPLM-IO director of information Puok Both Baluang said Machar and his delegation have returned to Khartoum.
“The SPLM/SPLA (IO) would like to inform members and the public at large that, the Chairman and Commander in Chief of the people’s movement SPLM/SPLA (IO) and First Vice President designate, H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon and his accompanying delegation arrived back safely this evening about 5:00 PM to the Sudanese capital, Khartoum after One-week visit to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,” the statement extended to Nyamilepedia said.
“The Chairman led the SPLM/SPLA (IO) high-level delegation to the Consultation Meeting of the Parties to the R-ARCSS which was convened by the IGAD Council of Ministers on August 21st in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,” the statement added.
It further reiterated the group’s “full commitment to the implementation of the (R-ARCSS), in letter and spirit, as the only sure way to attain lasting peace in South Sudan.”
