June 29, 2021 – South Sudan First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has today given the green light for the establishment of a sub-regional office for World Vision in South Sudan.
Dr. Machar presented the minutes of a meeting held by the Governance Cluster dubbed No. 3/2021 at the Council of Ministers’ Meeting Hall.
According to the Press Unit of the First Vice President, the meeting confirms and adapts the recommendations of its meeting No. 02/2021, held on Tuesday, 22nd June 2021.
The meeting resolution tallies with the ministerial memorandum on opening the branch office for World Vision International in the country.
“The meeting discussed a Ministerial Memo on the establishment of World Vision International Sub-Regional Office in the Republic of South Sudan, presented by Hon. Beatrice Khamisa Wani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,” said the statement in part.
The Governance Cluster which is led by Mr. Machar agreed and signed the memorandum and directed the Foreign Ministry to coordinate the memo to the other relevant institutions.
“The Governance Cluster meeting passed the memo, and directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to consult with the relevant ministries namely; Trade and Industry; Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management; Labor; and Justice and Constitutional Affairs, on the Host Country Agreement,” it added.
