March 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Prominent South Sudan opposition and SPLM-IO leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, will respond soon to last month’s announcement about reunification by three SPLM factions in Juba.
In February, the three factions namely, ruling SPLM faction led by Kiir, former SPLM-IO faction led by First Vice-President Taban Deng Gai and SPLM-Former Detainees met in Juba and announced the reunification of the SPLM party.
Following the announcement, the three factions issued a 30-day ultimatum to those who were not in Juba by the time.
Among the prominent SPLM members who are until now not in Juba are the former First SPLM deputy, Dr. Riek Machar and the SPLM Secretary-General Pagan Amum.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday in the Egyptian capital Cairo, member of the FDs, Deng Alor Kuol, said Machar is going to respond to the reunification process.
He said they have been with Machar’s wife Angelina Teny and were told by Teny that Machar was going to respond in the near future.
“Dr. Riek Machar is yet to respond. He is going to response and he would decide what to do,” Alor said.
“We were together with Angelina in Juba, we discussed this issue. She said she was consulting with Dr. Riek and Dr. Riek said he will respond,” he added.
