Jan 09, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —– As South Africa’s main political party, the Africa National Congress(ANC), celebrate its 105th anniversary, South Sudan’s former Vice President, Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of SPLM/A(IO), Dr. Riek Machar Teny congratulates the ANC, its supporters and South Africa.
According to a statement, extended to Nyamilepedia, Machar reiterates that ANC is the elder sister of national democratic liberation movements and therefore the ANC and its current chairman, Jacob Zuma, the president, deserve congratulations.
“on behalf of SPLM/A(IO) and on my own, I am writing to congratulate you and the ANC for 105 anniversary celebrations of its birth” Said Dr. Machar, the Chairman of SPLM/A in Opposition.

“We are all celebrating with you as we view the ANC as the elder sister in the history of peoples’ national democratic liberation movements. Congratulations, we wish the ANC long political life leading the democratic environment in South Africa” Machar concludes.
Dr. Machar, who command forces that are currently battling Kiir’s SPLA-IG forces in South Sudan, remains in South Africa.
According to latest international media reports, UK and Norway are expected to meet in Doha, Qatar, to initiate a political process to resolve South Sudan’s political crises.
The two countries plus the United States, which forms TROIKA, have repeatedly warned in the past that there will never be a military solution to South Sudan conflict; however, the fighting in July 2016 and subsequent break away of Taban Deng and a few politicians from SPL/A(IO) overshadowed the call for a peaceful political solution to the conflict.
While Taban claims to control the SPLM/A(IO), it has been six months so far and fighting continue to intensify between the SPLA(IO) and SPLA(IG) suggesting that the break away politicians do not control the forces of SPLA in Opposition.
