July 4th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, has appointed a new governor for the opposition’s Bieh State, whose governor passed away last month in Lankien, one of the opposition administrative units in the state.
In a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia today, Dr. Machar appointed Brig. Gen. Simon Hoth Duol Bol as the successor for Brig. Gen. Koang Rambang Chuol who died last month in Lankien Payam.
“Pursuant to the resolutions of the SPLM Political Bureau September 23, 2016 and SPLM(IO) Constitution, I Riek Machar-Teny Dhurgon, Chairman and Commander-in-Chief, SPLM/SPLA(IO), do hereby appoint Brig. Gen. Simon Hoth Duol Bol as governor of Bieh State with effect from 3rd July 2018,” partly read a statement signed by the SPLM-IO Chairman and Commander-in-Chief Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
Gen. Hoth Duol Bol was the deputy governor before his appointment as the governor of the state yesterday but Machar relieved him as deputy governor before appointing him in a separate degree issued also on the 3rd of July 2018.
In a separate degree, Machar as well appointed Pal Mai Deng as the new deputy governor replacing Gen. Simon Hoth in the position he held until yesterday.
The former governor of Bieh State, Brig. Gen. Koang Rambang Chuol passed away last month in Lankien following a lengthy undisclosed illness.
