Juba, South Sudan
August 15, 2021—The Chairperson of the SPLM-IO National Committee for Information and Public Relations Mr. Mabior Garang De Mabior has denied allegations that he tendered in his resignation from Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army in Opposition under the leadership of the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
Mabior who is allegedly reported to have joined the splitter group of the SPLM/A-IO led by the senior opposition commander Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual has refuted the report that he resigned and termed it as “fake news”.
Yesterday on 13th of August 2021, the Juba based SPLM-IO Political Bureau under the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar held a meeting in which they later on issued a statement accepting the resignation of Mabior Garang from the SPLM/A-IO and also dismissing the opposition officials who have joined Kitgwang declaration including the second person in the movement, Henry Odwar who resigned his ministerial portfolio over the last two days citing inability of Machar to lead South Sudanese to the promised land.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Mabior refutes the Resolution of political bureau that took place in Juba yesterday and dismissed his resignation narrative as unfounded.
“This press release serves to inform members of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) and the public at large that there has been a split in the Movement. The public should disregard the fake news of the expulsion of the Deputy Chairman, some Political Bureau members and the mendacious lie that I– the defunct National
Chairperson for Information and Public Relations – have resigned”, Mabior said in a statement.
“The Movement has split over the principle on which it was founded – the search for a dignified peace for our civil population. The SPLM-IO (Juba group) claims to be implementing peace despite the fact that after three years, our civil populations are still languishing in PoCs, refugee camps or suffering the brutality of inter-communal violence in our cattle camps and in thevillages, he added.
It is not the first time for Mabior Garang to denounce his alleged resignation. Last month the document went viral on media purporting his resignation from the SPLM/A-IO but Mabior later denied it and blamed it on those whom he dubbed as his political detractors.
