Lebanon calls on citizens to leave Ethiopia as rebels advance on Addis Ababa

NOV 6, 2021 — Latest reports from the capital of Lebanon, Beirut, confirms that the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs called the Lebanese citizens in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to leave through Addis Ababa immediately as Lebanon fears the Tigray People Liberation Front could build on its momentum to capture the capital, Addis Ababa.

According to reports that emerged from Beirut today, on Saturday, Lebanon called on Lebanese citizens in Ethiopia, especially families, to leave the horn of Africa with immediate effect and only travel to Ethiopia when they get security clearance.

“the Lebanese citizens in Ethiopia, especially families to leave the country as soon as possible until the immediate danger is over and things return to normal.” Reads part of a memo attributed to Lebanon Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

The ministry further urge the Lebanese to “be careful when roaming at night and to stock up on food and medicine they need for personal consumption when necessary.”

The Ministry calls on the Lebanese citizens to call the Lebanese embassy in Cairo at their emergency case number at 00201225543703 to get further assistance.
