August 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The trial of former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has been adjourned for a week after several witnesses gave their testimony on Saturday. Bashir is currently on trial for corruption and money laundering charges.

The defense lawyers for the former president asked judges to release the ousted president on bail. The court however rebuffed the request and suggested that the request be filed and then submitted in writing.

Former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir was ousted by the military in April following months of violent protests that killed hundreds of demonstrators.

Al-Bashir first appeared in court last week and admitted to receiving $90 million from Saudi Arabia’s King Salman.

Al-Bashir had been previously indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Sudanese armed forces and paramilitary groups during the Darfur conflict.
