In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, the interim leader of breakaway faction of Kitgwang issues a decree promoting Nyajany, a radical South Sudanese-Australian, to the rank of Major General.

“Pursuance to the Kitgwang Declaration of 3rd August 2021, I, 1st Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, the Interim Chairman and Commander in Chief of the SPLM/SPLA (IO), do hereby promote Nyajany Joshua Dei Wal to the rank of Major General,” Gatwech said in a decree obtained by Nyamilepedia this morning.

Mrs. Nyajany served as the head of the SPLM-IO mission to Australia but was relieved in 2019 amid controversies by the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

Last year, Nyajany shifted her loyalty from the SPLM-IO under Machar to self-imposed leader of the SPLM-IO faction and former governor of the defunct Sobat State, Duer Tut Duer, who claimed to have replaced Dr. Machar as the leader of the main Opposition group.

Nyajany later defected from Duer Tut and decided to pledge allegiance to the defiant SPLA-IO Kitgwang faction led by the SPLA-IO former Chief of General Staff General Simon Gatwech Dual who also  attempted to remove Machar as the head of the SPLM-IO.

Last month, she traveled from Australia, along with her husband, and visited General Simon Gatwech Dual in Kigwang headquarters “Magenis” where an arrangement was reportedly made by the opposition commander to have her promoted to senior ranks.
