December 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A legal aide to South Sudan’s president, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has suddenly died in the Kenyan capital Nairobi after he was rushed to a hospital after complaining of heart pain, family sources told Nyamilepedia on Wednesday.

According to one family member, Majok Mading Majok who works as Head of Legal Administration at President Kiir’s office died in Kenya after “suddenly” failing ill. The family member who said he prefers not to be named said the President’s aide was rushed to hospital and died later.

“Molana Majok was taken to hospital after complaining of pain in the heart. He was not ill before that and he was well. After we went to the hospital, he then died in the hospital suddenly,” the family member added.

Another family member confirmed Majok’s death saying his body would be flown to Juba on Thursday for burial.

Majong is the presidential aide who signed – on behalf of Kiir – a military court verdict against ex-army commander Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang who was demoted and dismissed from army because of treason charges. Buay had been detained for more than a year but denied all the charges.

The court verdict was supposed to be signed by President Salva Kiir who is also the Commander in Chief of South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), but was signed by Majok instead. It remains unclear why Kiir would snub signing of such an important document.

Majok is an ethnic Dinka from Twic East County of the country’s Jonglei state.
