February 11th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President,  Salva Kiir Mayardiit, vowed on Friday that he will protect the 32% women share at all level of government.

President Kiir was speaking on Friday during a peace dissemination gathering he made with South Sudansee women at the Presidential Palace.

“The 35 percent women representation is something enshrined in the constitution and nobody will temper with it,” he told women leaders.

Kiir assured the women that any change to the percentage will be to uphold and that he will not accept any attempt to decrease the percentage.

“Any change in that percentage will be to increase, not to reduce it. That will be the only acceptable change that can be done,” he said.

“The time for peace is now….the whole world is looking at us,” he added.

South Sudan government and opposition groups signed a revitalized peace deal in September last year to end the five year all conflict.

The peace agreement which maintain a Kiir presidency during a 36-month transitional period also gives women 35% share at all levels of government.
