January 20th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, said on Friday that he will use anything he have in his treasury for the implementation of the peace agreement signed with opposition groups last year.

Kiir and opposition leaders in September 2018 signed a revitalized version of a 2015 peace deal which collapsed in July 2016 following fighting at the Presidential Palace in the capital Juba forcing opposition leaders including SPLM-IO Chairman Dr. Riek Machar Teny to flee the capital.

Speaking to representatives of the South Sudanese community in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Thursday, Kiir said he told his cabinet that they own the agreement and that they must use whatever they have to sustain it.

“In our cabinet, I told the ministers that the agreement we have signed is ours and we must implement it,” Kiir said.

“Whatever little that we have, must be put to the implementation of the agreement because this is ours,” he added.
