June 26th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s incumbent, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, reports says, is under pressure from regional leaders notably Sudan’s President Omar Al-Bashir and his Ugandan counterparts Yoweri Kagutta Museveni to accept working together again with prominent South Sudan Opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, sources told the Nyamilpedia today from Khartoum.

The second phase of the face-to-face meeting is expected to enter its second day today in the Sudanese capital Khartoum under the auspices of the Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir. President Museveni of the neighboring Uganda is also attending the talks.

“Kiir is under pressure. It turn out that President Museveni favors Kiir to work with Riek Machar in a new transitional government of national unity. The same to the Sudanese President whose country is hosting the second phase of the face-to-face meeting,” one source said in Khartoum on the condition of anonymity.

Another source said Museveni seems to be frustrated of Kiir’s unwillingness to accept working with Machar again.

“It is like President Museveni is frustrated with President Salva Kiir over his unwillingness to work with opposition leader Riek Machar again,” the source said.

Kiir and Machar previously met in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa for the first time since 2016 and the Khartoum meeting is the second in its kind.
