August 8th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, will on Friday meet the tribal advisory group, the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) to discuss the recently signed peace agreement.
South Sudan government on Sunday signed the long awaited peace deal with the many opposition groups fighting it including Machar’s SPLM-IO.
The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) and the SPLM Former Detainees also signed the agreement despite having been vocal early to what they referred to as unjust peace because it do not addressed their concerns which are mostly represented by the number of states.
One source in Nairobi told the Nyamilepedia his afternoon that the South Sudanese leader will meet the JCE on Friday in the state house J1 to brief them about the peace agreement he signed with opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
“The President will meet a delegation of the Jieng Council of Elders on Friday in the state house J1 to discuss with them advantage and disadvantage of the peace agreement which he signed with Riek Machar last Sunday,” the source said on the condition of anonymity.
President Kiir last May promised the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) that he would never sign a peace agreement that would bring back Dr. Riek Machar to the position of the First Vice Presidency.
Among the agendas, according the official, is the peace deal that Kiir signed in Khartoum on Sunday.
