May 7th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s president – Salva Kiir Mayardiit – is expected to deliver a very important policy statement on Monday during the reopening of the parliament, a lawmaker said on Tuesday.
The country’s Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) is expected to reopen next week.
The members of the parliament have been on recess since January this year after they were tasked by the government to go to their constituencies for the dissemination of the revitalized peace agreement signed in September 2018.
In a statement on Monday, the Chairperson of Information Committee at the TNLA, Paul Yohana, urged the lawmakers to show up before Monday to register for the reopening of the parliament in which the President will issue a key policy address to the lawmakers.
“That day is going to be a very important day, very historic day because his Excellency the President of the Republic of South Sudan is going to deliver a very important policy statement to the South Sudanese,” he said.
