May 8th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has threatened the use of force against former government ministers who do not want to vacate houses belonging to the South Sudan government in order for new and current government ministers to takeover.
Currently, ninety-nine per cent (99%) of the government officials both ministers, under secretaries and other officials are living in hotels and their expense are being covered by the government.
Speaking during the ruling SPLM-IG National Liberation Council meeting in the nation’s capital last week, Kiir said he want all the former government ministers out of the houses belonging to the government so as the new officials who are being accommodated in hotels at the expense of the government to take over.
“I want them to leave the houses,” Kiir said.
“It is not official for me to send police to vacate the houses by for force, but I do not want to do that,” he said.
Kiir said if the ministers do not want to vacate these houses voluntarily, he will be left with no alternative than to send in troops to remove them from the houses.
“But if people do not want to do it (vacation of the government houses), I will issue an order [to the police to remove the ministers by force],” Kiir said.
