October 5th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has said that the resources he has at hand are not enough for peace implementation.

His government signed a revitalized peace agreement with opposition groups in September last year to end the ongoing civil war.

A unity government was supposed to be formed last May to lead a thirty-six months transition which will see the powered shared between Kiir and other opposition leaders such as Machar.

The government in May pledged $100 million to support the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement but only $12 million of those money had been paid leaving the security arrangements a matter of struggle.

Speaking to ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions on Saturday in Juba, Kiir asked the ambassadors to mobilize for money and to tell the world that what he has is not enough for peace implementation.

“As you prepare to depart to your missions, I want you to convey my commitment and assurances to implement the R-ACRSS and restore peace, security and stability to South Sudan as well as my commitment to form the R-TGoNU come 12th November 2019,” Kiir told diplomats gathered at CDR Nyuon Bany Hall.

“I want you to further solicit more support for the implementation of R-ACRSS from governments of the countries you have been posted to, as lack of funds have been one of our main obstacle, which is hindering the implementation of R-ACRSS, particularly Chapter Two of the Revitalized Agreement (Permanent Cease Fire and Security Arrangement).

“You should also inform governments of the countries you are accredited to that my government has been doing its best to implement the agreement even with our scarce resources to implement the R-ACRSS but this is not sufficient.

“We need the commitment of the regional and International community as promised.”
