Kiir sacks central bank governor, no reasons cited

January 22nd 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has removed Central Bank Governor Dier Tong Ngor.

The Presidential Decree read out on the state-own South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) this evening gave not reasons for the sacking.

Ngor who was appointed to head the top financial institution in the country was replaced by Jamal Abdalla Wani.

Wani alongside John Dor Majok – now deputy finance minister – were deputizing the country’s then Central Bank Governor Kornolio Koryom prior to 2014.
