November 19,2021—South Sudan’s President Salva kiir has reconstituted four additional state legislative assemblies with exception of two states and three Administrative Areas.
In a statement announced on the state-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) President Kiir issued a republican decree on Thursday reconstituting other four state legislative assemblies that include Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap, Eastern Equatoria, and Jonglei state.
Kiir did not reconstitute state assemblies for Unity State, Western Bahr el-Ghazal state and other three Administrative Areas namely Greater Pibor Administrative Area, Ruweng Administrative Area and Abyei Administrative Area.
On 5th of November 2021, President Kiir reconstituted the legislative assemblies for Western Equatoria, Central Equatoria, Lakes and Upper Nile states.
This brings the total number of reconstituted state legislative assemblies to eight out of ten states and three administrative areas
In a separate decree, president kiir also appointed at least 100 members of parliament based on political power sharing ratios of the 2018 Revitalized peace agreement.
