Kiir promise to address issues affecting South Sudan’s higher education

February 1st (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President,  Salva Kiir Mayardiit, promised on Friday that he will address all issues affecting the country’s higher education.

Kiir made the comments on Friday during a meeting with the the newly appointed Vice-chancellors and deputies of the South Sudan public universities at the state house in Juba.

“I will do my part,  but this will be an addition to what you will do. I will address all the issues affecting our universities,” Kiir is quoted as saying.

According to the South Sudan Presidential Press,  South Sudan’s Minister of Higher Education, Yien Oral Lam, said they met the President today in “an introductory meeting where they (vice chancellors) also presented the challenges facing public universities in the country.”

He added that, the President “assured” them of his commitment to solve some of the challenges for the smooth running of the Universities.

The South Sudanese leader last month reshuffled vice chancellors of public universities.
