December 21st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, today met Angelina Teny, wife of prominent opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny at the state house in Juba, the South Sudan Presidency announced in a statement issued Friday.
The delegation of the opposition SPLM-IO was headed by Angelina Jany Teny who is also the group’s Chairperson of National Committee of Security and Defense.
“The President of the Republic, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, met with the delegation of the opposition’s security committee at the State House, which was headed by Angelina Teny, in the presence of the President’s Advisor for Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak,” the Presidency announced in the statement.
In statements following the meeting, the Presidency reported, Tut said that the meeting dealt with issues related to security arrangements in the process of implementing the peace agreement.
Tut Kew who praised the “spirit of cooperation between the joint security arrangements committee” noting the presence of Ms. Angelina Teny in Juba shows the interest of the movement in the opposition led by Dr. Riek Machar to implement the peace agreement in the country.
For her part, Machar’s wife “expressed her happiness for the President’s interest’s in implementing the peace agreement to restore stability to the country, adding that the opposition delegation provided an enlightenment to the President of the republic on the implementation of the file of the security arrangements and that the committees are working in a spirit of cooperation as the sons and daughters of the country and not as parties to the conflict.”
