September 22nd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has met this afternoon South Sudan’s prominent opposition leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon along with other opposition groups leading rebellion against his government.
South Sudan’s Ministry of Information announced that the meeting assured President Salva Kiir of the opposition’s commitment and readiness to implement the agreement signed in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa last week to end the five-year old brutal conflict.
“The President of the Republic H.E. Salva Kiir Mayerdit on Saturday at the Sudanese presidential palace in Khartoum meet with the partners to the Revitalized Agreement and discussed possible means towards the translation of the deal on the ground,” said a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia on Saturday afternoon.
The statement further said that the meeting which took place at the Sudanese Presidency was attended by “others political parties headed by Mr. Peter Mayen Majoundit, South Sudan opposition Alliance,Headed by Mr. Gabriel Shangson, Former political detainees represented by Mr. Deng Alor Kuol and the SPLM/.A/IO Headed by it’s Chairman Dr. Riek Machar Teny.”
The statement further said the opposition groups assured Kiir of their readiness to fully implement the revitalized agreement signed last week in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
“During the meetings all parties assured the president of the Republic their readiness to work together in the implementation of the signed deal,” it added.
