Oct 15, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — President Salva Kiir Mayardit met the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission and the Head of AU Mission in Juba, Ambassador Joram M. Biswaro on Thursday at the State House in the capital, Juba.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Beatrice Khamisa Wani and the Minister of Presidential Affairs Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Beatrice Khamisa Wani, said South Sudan is not changing or printing new currency as alleged by the Minister of Information last week.
Khamisa went on to explain that “what happened was just a suggestion of ideas from some of the members of the council for the purpose of Future Economy studies but not an agreed decision.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation appealed to the General Public to remain calm and continue with their normal social economic activities “because there is no new currency being printed.”
In his part, Ambassador Joram Biswaro said, President Salva Kiir has assured them that, there is no new currency being printed and people should remain calm and continue with their normal activities.
According to President Kiir’s press office, ambassador Biswaro commended President Salva Kiir for mediating the Sudanese parties who signed the Peace Agreement in Juba on October 3, 2020.
Ambassador Biswaro Congratulated President Kiir for the Peace Award that was presented to him by the Universal Peace Federation saying that it is a remarkable achievement.
