September 17th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit made a break last week during his meeting with main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny to meet Ugandan spy chief, sources with knowledge said.

Last week, main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny traveled to Juba to conduct a face-to-face meeting with President Salva Kiir over the stalled implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

Machar met Kiir following his arrival on Monday and a second meeting scheduled for Tuesday had to be adjourned under unclear circumstances by the President for Wednesday.

One source from South Sudan’s office of the First Vice-President said Col. Frank Kaka, the Director General of Uganda’s Internal Security Organization (ISO), arrived in Juba on the evening of Monday, few hours after Machar arrived in the capital.

The source said President Kiir canceled his supposed Tuesday meeting with Machar to meet the visiting Ugandan spy chief as well as some foreign diplomats in South Sudan.

He had to cancel the meeting because he had to meet a visiting Ugandan intelligence chief Col. Frank Kaka,” the source said.

Although the source did not disclose the reason why the Ugandan spy chief had to rush to the east African country, another official said Col. Kaka’s visit to Juba aimed at a follow up about a previous meeting held between Kiir and Museveni in Kampala.
