April 26th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s two arch foes turned peace partners, President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny, have been invited by the regional bloc, IGAD, to meet in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia over peace implementation.

In two-week time, the pre-transitional period of eight months is set to end as the National Pre-transitional Committee (NPTC) failed to complete it’s mandate.

In an invitation letter seen by the Nyamilepedia, the IGAD special envoy for South Sudan, Ambassador Ismail Wais, invited Kiir and Machar as well other opposition leaders including those in the SSOA to attend to Addis Ababa for a meeting on peace implementation.

“I write to invite you to a meeting of the leadership of the Parties to the R-ARCSS regarding the status of implementation of the peace agreement and the way forward that is scheduled to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 2 to 3 May 2019,” partly read the invitation letter.

The letter added that the delegation would be of three members from each party.
