August 22nd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A face-to-face meeting between South Sudan’s arch rivals turned peace partners, President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar will take place in Juba under the facilitation of Sudan, a senior government official said.
South Sudan’s deputy foreign affairs minister, Deng Dua Deng told the state-owned SSBC that the head of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council (SC), Abdel Fattah al-Burhan agreed to help the two leaders resolve their differences.
Dau said the South Sudanese head of state and Sudan’s al-Burhan met in Khartoum on Saturday on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of a power sharing deal between the military and protest group, FFC.
Dau said the two leaders discussed the relations buy klonopin online between the two countries and agreed that the meeting between Kiir and Machar would be facilitated by Sudan and Machar’s security would be guaranteed by the northern neighbour.
“It was good that president Salva met with Burhani and they discussed a common motion raised between the countries and also issues of peace in South Sudan,” Dau said.
“They also discussed the issues of Riek Machar and president Salva,” Dau added.
Kiir had in the past turned down several regional initiatives to meet Machar in Addis Ababa and Khartoum recently saying any meeting between him and opposition leaders should take place in Juba.
For his part, Machar has agreed to visit Juba with the condition that Sudan guarantee his security by transporting to to Juba and back to his cell in Khartoum.
