April 18, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) — President Salva Kiir and his first deputy Dr. Riek Machar are conspiring against other opposition groups on the talks to divide state governors, an opposition leader said on Saturday.
Peter Mayen, the leader of South Sudan’s Liberal Party and leader of the Other Opposition Parties (OPP) told Nyamilepedia this afternoon that talks were still under way but were being jeopardized by main signatories of the agreement.
“You know what the peace agreement says. We are entitled to a state governor but the two SPLMs are conspiring against other parties on the matter,” Mayen said.
“They want to take 9 governors and all the administrative areas and this is not what is said in the agreement,” he added.
Separately, Peter Mayen said during an interview with Radio Miraya that talks have not succeeded because parties were trying to divide the governor equally because they want none is upsetted.
“We have not selected state governors yet because we don’t want anybody to be unhappy when they have a legitimate case,” he said.
