August 5th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudanese President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit has left the capital Juba this morning for Sudanese capital Khartoum ahead of the signing ceremony of the South Sudanese peace agreement which is due to be signed today, Sunday.
Several sources told the Nyamilepedia this morning that the President left the capital Juba and was accompanied by senior government officials.
“Yes, the president has just left capital and he is going to the Sudanese capital to sign peace with his brother Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon,” one source told the Nyamilepedia.
For its part, the South Sudan Presidential Press Unit announced on its social media page that the president has left the capital for Khartoum to sign peace agreement with the opposition.
“The President of the Republic, His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit left Juba for Khartoum,” said the South Sudan Presidential Press Unit in a statement.
South Sudanese parties have been in Khartoum since late May in an effort to try to end the ongoing civil war in the country which broke out in December 2013 after a SPLM, the ruling party, convention turned violent.
