Kiir leaves for Ethiopia on state visit

October 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has left the capital Juba this morning for the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, the presidency said in a statement.

For the last two months, Kiir has been planning to visit the Horn of Africa nation but a spat over meeting Machar in the Ethiopian capital let him to put the visit on hold.

The Presidency said in a statement that the President who is expected to meet his counterparts from East Africa in Addis Ababa will discuss with regional leaders the “progress” made in the implementation of the revitalized peace deal.

“The President of the Republic, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit traveled to Addis Ababa this morning,” the statement seen by Nyamilepedia said.

“President Kiir in his one day visit is expected to meet with his regional counterparts in Addis Ababa to discuss the progress that had been made in implementation of Revitalized Agreement in South Sudan,” the statement added.
