October 13th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has invited his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to Juba to attend the opening session of the Sudanese peace talks.

Kiir on Monday will kick off in the capital Juba peace talks between a number of Sudanese rebels under the umbrella of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) and the ruling Sovereignty Council led by Abdel Fatah al-Burhan.

In a statement issued by the Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi, the invitation was delivered by the Minister of Electricity of South Sudan Dr. Dhieu Mathok Diing in presence of the Egyptian Director of General Intelligence, General Abbas Kamel.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received today the Minister of Electricity of the Republic of South Sudan, Mr. Dhieu Mathok,” Radi said in the statement seen by Nyamilepedia.

Mr. Mathok delivered a message from the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, to invite Egypt to participate in the opening session of the peace negotiations between the Sudanese government delegations and the armed movements in Sudan hosted by Juba,” the statement added.

This meeting comes as a continuation of the Egyptian-sponsored meeting last September in Ain Sokhna between the main armed movements constituting the Sudanese Revolutionary Front, which discussed the procedural arrangements and equipment required to start negotiations with the transitional government.

The President (al-Sisi) asked for conveying his greetings to President Salva Kiir and thanked him for inviting Egypt to this important meeting, which comes in connection with the efforts exerted by Egypt in support of the stability of the brotherly Sudan and in the interest of its capabilities. The two brothers have historical ties and distinct and extended relationships.”
