January 23rd 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has been invited by his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa for a state visit, according to a letter signed by the South African head of state seen by Nyamilepedia.
“It gives me great pleasure to extend a formal invitation to you to undertake a Working Visit to South Africa at a date to be agreed upon through the diplomatic channels,” the letter partly reads.
Ramaphosa said Kiir’s visit “will provide us with an opportunity to further strengthen and deepen the good bilateral relations between our two countries and to discuss issues of mutual interest, including the implementation of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS).”
South Sudan and South Africa signed an oil exploration agreement last year in which the world’s youngest nation gave part of the oil wells to South Africa for investment.
