July 24th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has increased salaries for public universities, a move welcomed by all the public universities in the world’s youngest nation.
Based on the updated monthly salary structure, a professor will earn 542,500 SSP, Associate Professor will have 434,000 SSP, a lecturer will receive 341,000 SSP, teaching assistant, 145,700, and chief technician 186,000 SSP.
Other support-staff salaries range between 232,500 and 116,560 SSP monthly.
Since last year administration of South Sudan’s five public universities have been complaining of little pay which they said has led to resignation by many lecturers hampering universities’ performance.
According to information minister Micahel Makuei, the decision was taken during the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by the president in Juba.
