Kiir in South Africa for state visit

May 23rd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardiit is in Johannesburg, South Africa, for a state visit, according to a statement by the presidency.

The presidency said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia that Kiir arrived in South Africa for a state visit this evening without giving more details.

“The President of the Republic, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit arrives to Johannesburg, South Africa,” the statement of the Presidency said.

For his part,  a senior foreign ministry official told the Nyamilepedia that the president was visiting South Africa to follow up on a recent agreement signed by the South African government and South Sudan on oil exploration.
