Juba, South Sudan,
June 09, 2021 – The Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Martin Elia Lomoro says President Salva Kiir has a very ‘strong political will to fully implement the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCISS).
Lomoro says despite the myriad of challenges in the implementation process, his senior was committed to seeing the implementation of the agreement succeeds in letter and spirit.
This comes after the Interim Chairperson of Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC), Maj. Gen. Charles Tai Gituai met with Kiir on Wednesday to discuss all issues pending the completion of the Revitalized Peace Agreement, especially in the area of security arrangement which has been the most contentious so far.
According to a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, the purpose of the meeting was to revise and deliberate on the progress made in the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement mainly on security arrangements and the permanent constitution-making process.
Dr. Lomoro assured the public and people of South Sudan that Kiir is committed to ensuring the graduation of the trained national unified forces notwithstanding the unfolding challenges surrounding the peace implementation process.
During the meeting, Gituai commended Kiir for organizing a workshop on the permanent constitution-making process. He also asked the president to demonstrate practical political will by graduating all forces at cantonment areas.
The process of the peace implementation has been sluggish, especially in Chapter Two of the agreement, which entails the unification of forces. Several pledges to make this part of the agreement a success have gone without fulfillment.
On Tuesday this week, the leadership of the revitalized agreement ordered the presidential advisor on national security Tut Gatluak to mobilize resources for the graduation of forces who being redeployed to their respective cantonment sites.
