July 17th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s president, Salva Kiir Mayardiit on Tuesday dismissed the country’s legitimate foreign minister, Deng Alor Kuol, who had been appointed as part of a peace deal implementation.
In a degree read out on the state-owned SSBC, Kiir dismissed Alor without giving any reason but the later had been in exile for about six months in fear of reprisal for standing critical to the president’s activities towards peace implementation.
In late April, Kiir assigned the country’s cabinet minister Martin Elia Lomoro as the acting foreign minister after the Alor defied a summon by Kiir to report to the capital Juba.
In a separate degree, Kiir also appointed the current chief negotiator of the government Nhial Deng Nhial, who held the position just after independence in 2011, as the new foreign minister.
The country’s former political detainees were not available for comment
